Congratulations! Your student is taking a Woodworking and Design class (Woodshop) and you will get to enjoy woodworking projects handmade by your child.  In this course students will learn how to operate a variety of machine tools, and learn procedures commonly found in a woodworking shop. Please impress upon your student, the importance of  being careful and working safely. This will support the instruction given in the classroom. Your student will bring home copies of the Safety Consent Permission Form and Syllabus or you can download a copy here please read, sign and return.

Attendance and punctuality

Good attendance and participation is the foundation of success for a student just as it is for an employee. Since most of the work for this course is done in class, participation is very important. Students should come to class every day, on time, with a positive attitude, and be ready to learn. A tardy will be recorded if the student is not in class when the bell rings. If a student is more than ten minutes late they will be marked absent as per building policy.

Make up policy

Making up work in a Woodworking class is more challenging and complicated than other classes. This is a hands on type of class where students are working on individual projects that require the use of the tools and equipment available in the classroom. Students must complete their projects in a set amount of hour/days, when they miss class or are tardy they fall behind and to make up the time they must come before or after school.

If a student is absent on a day when there was a test or quiz it is the student's responsibility to make arrangements to make up the test or quiz. Re-take or make-up quizzes and tests may vary from the original. Mid term test and finals may no be retaken. Finals may not be made up unless there are extraordinary circumstances or prior arrangements.

Missing work will NOT be accepted within 2 weeks of the end of the current quarter. Work due in terms other than the current quarter will not be accepted. Failing to take the final may result in a failing grade in the class.

 Lab Fees

Basic materials for required projects will be provided free of charge to Woodworking and Design  students. If a student chooses to upgrade their project by using more expensive materials or are building larger projects, the student and/or parents will be responsible for the cost of upgrade. Parents will be consulted and if agreed the increased cost must be paid to the bookkeeper before any material(s) are supplied.
